This is a great year to attend your first (or twenty-first) Annual Networking and Educational Forum put on by the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. This year, it will be held virtually beginning on October 19th and ending on October 29th. Not only will the presentations be virtual so you save the cost of travel and lodging but registration is at a greatly reduced price. There are opportunities to earn additional continuing education credits without charge and all Forum Workshops will be recorded offering the opportunity to watch them at your leisure for an entire year after the Forum. There are eight Pre-Forum Institutes and thirty-two Workshops to choose from this year.
Collaborative Divorce Texas’ former President, Austin attorney Kris Algert with GoransonBain Ausley is presenting one of the Pre-Forum Institutes this year. It goes without saying that she is a gifted speaker and is a leader in the collaborative divorce movement both in Texas and the world. The following is a short narrative of the subject matter of her presentation which could not have come at a better time for our clients.
“Navigating Financial Narratives with our Clients.
“There is not enough money.” - “Money overwhelms me.” - “It’s my money. I earned it.” - “I deserve nice things.” - “I'll make it work.” - “It’s my responsibility to take care of my family.” - “I just want to keep the house.” – Sound familiar? Family finances are a key part of divorce decision-making. Clients have money scripts that have been formed and reinforced through their life experiences, which significantly impact their approach to decision-making. Our own financial narratives can create bias limiting our ability to be our best when working with clients and team members. Take a deeper look into these money scripts and discover how to speak the financial language best heard by each one. We will explore our own narratives, and those of clients, while sharing strategies and tools to best support our clients and work with our team through the financial decision-making process.”
Registration closes on October 16th. Information and registration instructions can be found at https://www.collaborativepractice.com/iacp-forum.
