Meet New Board Member Kevin Pinkley

April 16, 2018 By CD Texas Staff - t.c. Leave a Comment

Kevin PinkleyName: Kevin Pinkley

Date and Place of Birth:  1968; Portsmouth, VA

Family: Daughter (High School Senior) Son (High School Sophomore) and my wonderful wife Elizabeth (DPT)

Education: Sam Houston State University BA

Firm Name: Wealth Management Group

Member of Collaborative Divorce Texas since:  2009

I started practicing Collaboratively because: Someone finally said yes and thanks by the way.

What I like best about this job: I get to help provide solutions.

My hobbies are: Enjoying family, huntin, fishin, most things outdoors, I try to swim, bike and run (but my chief critic, our son says I’m really slow) and reading.

My last meal would consist of: Appetizers: grilled dove breast, wrapped in bacon and jalapeno.  Venison tenderloin. Beverages: Shiner, the original, long before any one heard of bock. Coors, chilled in any snow bank above 10,000 feet. Main course: Free range beef filet (medium) garden fresh mashed potatoes, chilled tomatoes and cucumbers, brussel sprouts, corn on the cobb, and fried okra. Soup: My Great Aunts guinea soup (just ask) Deserts: My mom’s cheese cake bites and oatmeal cake. My Great Aunts kolaches (not some damn pigs in a blanket, real kolaches made by a real Czech.)

My favorite restaurant is: It’s a really quiet place, that’s hard to get to, so I’ll keep it that way.

The most interesting thing I have ever done is: Had a refreshing beverage with a lifetime felon, a judge, an astronaut, a Hollywood actor, a genuine hero, a drifter, a drunk, an author, a business man, a farmer, a teacher, a musician and myself (as a teenager).  The interesting part is there were only four of us at the table.

The two greatest influences of my life have been: Mom and Dad

I drive a:  Ford F-150 4x4, I need it to try to survive the freeways and get me some dirt road.

I wish I drove a: Any tractor over fifty years old and a Ducati Desmosedici RR (it’s a two-wheeled rocket, that hopefully stays on the ground).

I am currently reading: 12 Rules for Life by Dr. Jordan Peterson and Boys in the Boat by Daniel Brown

Favorite book: The Holy Bible

Favorite song: Amazing Grace- Bagpipes Version

Favorite band/musician: Too many choices here, I like everything from Ludwig van Beethoven to Mr. Blind Willie Johnson

4 Fantasy dinner guests – (living or dead):Some of my living fantasy guest have left me disappointed and didnt seem to enjoy my company, so I’ll go with the dead. Leonardo da Vinci , George Washington , Tecumseh  and Jonas Salk , with all due apologies to Sammuel Clemens.

Favorite quote: Ok it’s not a quote but a poem that is often quoted. Do not go gentle into that good night by Dylan Thomas

My friends say my greatest asset is: I asked and I’m still waiting to hear back from them.

The most important advice I could give a teenager is: I hope that very soon you realize you don’t know anything yet. Spend your life acquiring wisdom and knowledge, learn the history of the world, seek not comfort but accomplishment and pass these things on to the next generation.
